Sustainable Finance

In the course of the 21st century, the topic of ecological, social and economic sustainability has gained worldwide importance in business practice and research. The integration of sustainability-related goals and measures into the corporate strategy under the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and the increased demand for sustainability-related equity indices and performance measures raise the question of the consequences of this new surge at the financial level.

Our research projects focus on the impact of sustainability performance at the company level, particularly on a company's capital costs. With the help of international environmental, social and governance databases (ESG), empirical research is carried out to determine the extent to which companies can benefit from improved sustainability performance and which regulatory, macroeconomic or cultural factors are important.
